2. Zero Hunger
The UN Development Sustainable Goal 2;
End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable Agriculture.
For zero hunger, we organized workshops and field trips to farms in the Eastern, Volta, Ashanti, Western and Central Regions to do the following;
- Understand whether or not the children and young people understood what hunger is.
- What they individually and collectively believed is the cause of hunger.
- Is hunger a security threat to the stability of a people.
- Does hunger affect children, young people and women?
- Can hunger be eradicated?
- Should children, young people and women work on farms?
- What roles can children, young people and women play to avoid hunger?
- What solutions can they proffer to eradicate hunger?
- Their solutions under the microscope.
- Did they know of the existence of the UN Sustainable Development Goal on poverty?
- Can their solutions be translated into a short creative film for competition?
Children and young people understand and know what hunger is. They went on to explain that hunger is a threat to security and stability of a people.
They also came out to state that in times of hunger, women, children and young people are the most vulnerable.
It was overwhelmingly agreed that they will put their solutions into a film and be willing to be in any competition that will seek to address how to achieve zero hunger.
The main problem was that children and young people knew about the UN but knew nothing about the UN Sustainable Development Goal on hunger.
Twelve (12) trainers of trainers, fifty-nine (59) trainers and over four thousand, two hundred (4,200) students attended the workshops.
